Director Omar Lulu had promised that with his directorial Power Star, fans could see the vintage Babu Antony on screen again. And judging from the first image from the film’s sets of the action star, the filmmaker has delivered on his promise.

Babu Antony, who joined the sets of the film recently, shared his look from the movie through his social media page. “Loading 90s style in 2022 as most of you have demanded,” Babu Antony captioned the photography of his flaunting his long-haired look that was a rage back in the 90s.

Power Star, which was announced before the pandemic, went on floors in April end at Kannur. The movie, which is scripted by the later writer Dennis Joseph, is an action-entertainer also starring Baburaj, Riyaz Khan, Abu Salim and Shammi Thilakan. The movie also has Hollywood actors Louis Mandylor and Robert Parham, who had acted with Babu Antony in the film Bullets, Blades and Blood.

The film marks Babu Antony’s third film since the pandemic. The actor had last year completed the shoot of Mani Ratnam’s big-budget, magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, in which he is rumoured to play the role of King Kotilan. The actor had previously worked in Mani Ratnam’s Anjali almost three decades ago.

The Malayalam star also wrapped up shooting for Rajeev Nath’s Headmaster, which is based on Karoor Neelakanta Pillai’s story Pothichoru. The film, which also has Thampi Antony, is expected to release on an OTT platform soon.

Babu has also signed up to play the lead in TS Suresh Babu’s Kadamattathu Kathanar, which is a 3D fantasy drama. He has completed work on The Great Escape, in which he will be seen sharing screen space with his son Arthur. Up next, Babu Antony also has the thriller Santa Maria coming up.
