Babil took to his Instagram Stories to share that there was no space to keep his new award.
At the OTTplay Changemakers Awards 2023, which were held on Sunday night, actor Babil Khan, the son of the late actor Irrfan Khan, was named the Rising Star of the Year. The actor, who made his acting debut with Qala last year, shared on Instagram Stories that he didn't know where to put his trophy because his late father had received so many awards throughout his career that there was no more room.
Irrfan is recognised as one of the greatest actors in Indian movie history and passed away in 2020 after a protracted illness. He received many honours over his long and illustrious career, including six Filmfare Awards and a National Award for Paan Singh Tomar. Due to his involvement in several English-language movies, including Life of Pi, The Amazing Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, and Inferno, he was also well-known in Hollywood. Babil is his elder son.
Babil shared a brief video clip from his house while carrying his OTTplay Changemaker award and pondering where to put it on his Instagram Stories. He showed a glimpse of the shelves, which were crammed with the past honours that his late father Irrfan had received for his movies.
"Nope," Babil remarked as he paced the room in search of a place on the shelf to display his latest award. He described this situation as "when you're trying to keep an award you've received but there's no space because your dad is like, "Been there done that, child"" in the caption of this Instagram Story. In a different story, he shared a photo of himself holding the trophy and captioned it, "OTTplay Changemakers gave me an award for the rising star of the year. This helps my self-esteem. XD"
Babil won praise for his acting debut in Anvita Dutt's Qala, which premiered on Netflix in November of last year. Tripti Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee, and Varun Grover had major roles in the psychological drama movie. The following movie starring Babil will be made by Shoojit Sircar, who also directed his late father's film, Piku.
