Baazigar, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak actor Dalip Tahil plans to approach High Court on hit-and-run case verdict

Dalip Tahil – best known for his work in Baazigar, and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, has been sentenced to serve 2-months in prison for drunk driving and hitting an auto-rickshaw with his car in 2018.

Looks like all is not well for Dalip Tahil! The 70-year-old actor’s life is floating under turbulent waters at the moment. Recently, a Mumbai court sentenced the Bollywood star to serve 2-months in prison for drunk driving and hitting an auto-rickshaw with his car in 2018. According to the order copy, the Mumbai court took note of a medical professional's testimony which stated that Dalip was “smelling of alcohol, his pupils were dilated, had an unsteady gait and had an incoherent speech” when the accident took place. Acting upon this judgment, Dalip and his team of lawyers have decided today to approach the Bombay High Court.

What is next in Dalip Tahil’s case?

In a report published by ETimes today, Dalip is not convinced of the Mumbai Court’s judgment and will be approaching the High Court in the matter. “I respect the judgment, but it is a suspended sentence, and we will approach the higher court,” he said to the news portal.

Soon after Dalip Tahil’s news surfaced online, many internet users pointed out the divide between the rich and the poor. Some internet users mocked Dalip and asked him to seek guidance from megastar Salman Khan, who did not serve any jail term in the 2002 hit-and-run case.

Who is Dalip Tahil?

Tahil gained global recognition for his portrayal of Madan Kumar in the musical "Bombay Dreams" by musician A.R. Rahman. He graced the stage at the Apollo Theatre in London, delivering the role more than 500 times until 2002.

In 1984, Dalip Tahil took on the role of Baby Sonia's father in India's inaugural 3-D film, "My Dear Kuttichathan," produced by Navodaya. Fast forward to 2013, he portrayed former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra's film, "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" featuring Farhan Akhtar as the titular Milkha Singh. His credits extend to the 2007 Punjabi film "Sajna ve Sajna." Notably, he etched his presence as the nefarious Madan Chopra, a malevolent businessman in the 1993 film "Baazigar." In 2019, he assumed the role of Rupert Dali in "Mission Mangal."
