The Golden Star Ganesh led love story is set to release in theatres on September 28
Nine months after it was first set to be in theatres, Baanadariyalli, the latest Preetham Gubbi-Ganesh combination, will have its date with audiences. Last evening, the team released the trailer of the film and officially announced that they will be in theatres on September 28. Baanadariyalli is a film based on a story by renowned cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, that Preetham wrote the screenplay for. It has been described as ‘not a love story, but a story about love’ and going by the trailer, it appears that Baanadariyalli is about love and loss and coming to terms with it.
While die-hard fans of Ganesh are seeing the film as a comeback of sorts for him and predict it will be high on emotions and content, not everyone is sold on what Preetham has in store. That the trailer felt more like a teaser that did not shine light on the story or the kind of narrative was a common grouse with audiences stating that the director should have opted for a better cut. Also, given that that the trailer had a lot of visuals from the Kenya schedule, including sweeping shots of the African landscape and wildlife, audiences said that the overall feel was more of wildlife documentary than a film trailer.
Baanadariyalli: Ganesh, Rukmini Vasanth and Reeshma Nanaiah’s film postponed again
Most netizens are, however, appreciative of Abhilash Kalathi’s cinematography and Arjun Janya’s background score. Some fans say that the film brings back vintage Ganesh, which, incidentally is something that several audiences have been urging the actor to break out of, after the failure of some of his recent films. Ganesh, they reckon, has been doing films that follow a set template. There’s love, comedy, heartbreak for sure, with most filmmakers, including Preetham relying on the actor’s ability to hold forte in emotionally-charged moments and get audiences misty-eyed.
According to the trailer, Ganesh’s character is in love with Rukmini Vasanth as Leela, but then, if the line he says about life after losing a loved one is anything to go by, their story ends in tragedy. It is not clear if Reeshma Nanaiah becomes another love interest or remains a good friend and emotional support to the hero.
