Baanadariyalli trailer: Ganesh finds out that losing in love is hard, but losing a loved one is harder

The Preetham Gubbi directed film, based on a story by cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, will be in theatres on September 28

Baanadariyalli is Golden Star Ganesh’s first release for the year. Had everything gone according to plan, it would have been his third in 2022, as the Preetham Gubbi directorial was initially mean to be in theatres for Christmas. For reasons best known to the team, it was pushed ahead then, expected on March 17 and postponed yet again. Then, for the longest time, there was absolutely no news from the team, until September 15 was heard as the date it would be in theatres. Not a bad date, one thought, considering that it would only be in competition with the thriller Tatsama Tadbhava. But then, that changed too, as they figured that in the absence of Salaar on September 28, that date would be apt for them.

The official announcement of the release date came today, along with the much-awaited trailer. Preetham’s film, based on a story by cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, has the tagline that it is not a love story, but a story about love. From the songs and the earlier teaser, it was clear that Ganesh and Rukmini Vasanth were the primary couple in the tale and going by the trailer, it seems that he as the swashbuckling cricketer and she the water-loving one, either decide to get married or do so and then part ways, as he’s then heard saying that it is hard to lose in love, but harder to lose a loved one. How does one live then, he asks.

The film, which has music by Arjun Janya, also stars Reeshma Nanaiah and Rangayana Raghu in pivotal roles. A major portion of the film was shot in Kenya, as Reeshma’s character is that of a wildlife photographer and the trailer provides ample visuals of the African landscape and its wildlife. As with most Ganesh films, Baanadariyalli too seems to be high on emotions and will tug at the heartstrings. But this one also promises to be a visual spectacle, if the trailer is anything to go by.
