Baana Dariyalli first look: Ganesh’s film is not a love story; it’s a story about love

The film reunites director Preetham Gubbi with the Golden Star and also has Rukmini Vasanth and Reeshma Nanaiah on board.

Filmmaker Preetham Gubbi revealed the first look of his upcoming film, Baana Dariyalli, with Golden Star Ganesh, in which the actor is seen as an adventure-loving surfer and another in the African Savanna. Ganesh’s two looks are in sync with what his leading ladies are up to in the film. Rukmini Vasanth, who plays Leela in the film, has been quoted as saying that her character is into water sports, while Reeshma Nanaiah, as Kadambari, is a wildlife photographer. The first look posters were accompanied by the message that Baana Dariyalli is not a love story, but a story about love.

Baana Dariyalli is Preetham’s fouth collaboration with the Golden Star, after Maleyali Jotheyali, Dil Rangeela and 99. Preetham has also written the script of one of Ganesh’s biggest hits ever, Mungaru Male. So, their new collaboration has created a lot of intrigue in industry circles.

Ganesh, who was last seen in Suni’s Sakath, has Tribble Riding and Gaalipata 2 up for release, the latter set to hit theatres on August 12. Rukmini, who debuted in Kannada cinema with MG Srinivas’ Birbal: Finding Vajramuni, is currently on a schedule break from her next film, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, directed by Hemanth M Rao, in which she is paired with Rakshit Shetty.

Reeshma, meanwhile, made her Kannada cinema debut earlier this year, and was launched by Prem in Ek Love Ya, which was the launchpad of his wife, Rakshitha’s brother, Raanna.

The film, which is likely to go on floors shortlya, will be shot across locations in Bengaluru, Chennai, Varanasi and Africa. The film is based on a story by cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, for which Preetham has written the screenplay. The title is derived from the iconic song of the same name that was sung by the late Puneeth Rajkumar in 'Bhagyavantha'. The 1981 film starred the matinee idol, Dr. Rajkumar in the lead and featured Puneeth as a child artist (credited as Master Lohith) who also sang the song. The makers of the upcoming film deemed the name 'Baana Daariyalli' to be apt for their story that brims with romance.
