Baahubali: Web series shoot to finally begin in November

The long wait is over! Baahubali web series shoot will now begin in two months. Titled Baahubali - Before the Beginning, the series will focus on the story of Mahishmati before the birth of the benevolent Baahubali.
The makers have said to ToI that they will go on a recce for locations by the end of September. A source said, “The unit is looking for jungles as the plan is to shoot on live locations. Kerala and Karnataka were in lockdown during the last few months, so the team will travel to these states now to lock final locations.”
The series will be directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and Kunal Deshmukh. It will be based on Anand Neelakantan's 2017 and 2020 novels The Rise of Sivagami, Chaturanga and Queen of Mahishmati and will focus on Sivagami’s growth as a rebellious princess and later as a powerful queen.
Baahubali is a two-part movie directed by Rajamouli and narrates the story of Amarendra Baahubali and his son Shivu who fights against Bhallaladeva, his uncle who is behind the killing of his father and imprisonment of his mother. Prabhas played Amarendra Baahubali and Shivu while Rana Daggubati played Bhallaladeva.

Meanwhile, Wamiqa Gabbi, known for movies like Godha and Malai Nerathu Mayakkam, will reportedly play the younger version of Sivagami, the Rajamaatha, in the series. Sivagami is depicted as a strong character in the movie and is credited for moulding Amarendra Baahubali as a great ruler. Nayanthara is also roped in to play a role, but details are kept in dark. She will join the shoot after her current commitments for the Atlee-directed Shah Rukh Khan movie is completed.
Apart from Wamiqa and Nayanthara, actors like Rahul Bose and Atul Kulkarni will make appearances as Skandadasa and Pattaraya respectively. The series was commissioned by Netflix along with Ghoul and Sacred Games. But it got delayed due to date clashes and then the onset of the pandemic, rendering the film industry non-functional for several months.
