Baahubali makers enter Telugu web space with Anya's Tutorial on aha

Arka Media, the makers of Baahubali, have been associated with an interesting lineup of projects after the massive two-part franchise helmed by SS Rajamouli. They first co-produced the low-budget underdog comedy Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya, the Telugu remake of Maheshinte Prathikaram (that released directly on Netflix). Later, they acquired the rights to adapt Manu Pillai's best selling non-fiction book The Ivory Throne into a web show. Now, they are officially entering the Telugu digital space with a quirky horror show titled Anya's Tutorial.

Anya's Tutorial is being directed by first-time filmmaker Pallavi Gangireddy, a former associate of AR Murugadoss and stars Regina Cassandra, Nivedhithaa Sathish and Mathu Vadhalara-fame Agastya in key roles. The show, which has already commenced its shoot earlier this week, will stream on the Telugu OTT platform aha for Christmas this year. The show is expected to wrap up the shoot by October. Announcing the same, team Anya's Tutorial, Arka Media and aha came together for a media interaction in Hyderabad earlier today.

The show is about a girl Anya, a popular YouTuber, whose followers point out to her about the paranormal activity in her house across her videos. While she's terrified about it, she takes a step ahead to spook people and enhance her following on social media. Will it be too late before she could set things right? Anya's Tutorial will have answers soon. The show is written by Sowmya Sharma, a good friend of the director Pallavi Gangireddy, who brainstormed the idea across their lockdown conversations.

This is Regina's second web show with aha apart from Three Roses alongside Poorna and Payal Rajput. Expressing her happiness to be part of a project headlined by a women-led team including the writer, director, she thanked aha and Arka Media for empowering women in the industry. She opined that it's high time the entertainment industry takes female representation in the cast and crew seriously. Anya's Tutorial reportedly reminded her about her first film Kanda Naal Mudhal - also directed by a woman Priya.

The project marks the debut of Magalir Mattum, Sethum Aayiram Pon actress Nivedhithaa Sathish in Telugu. Regina and Nivedhithaa play siblings in Anya's Tutorial. Interestingly, the director Pallavi was part of aha's creative team before she expressed her interest to direct. aha's latest release was Pawan Kumar's Kudi Yedamaithe, which opened to positive responses all over.
