Avengers 5 Title To Be Changed?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point is going through a chaotic time with multiple announcements, too many movies and shows in the making, more in the process of getting green signal, and then casting for them. So technically, the new era of the MCU is being shaped as we speak and Kevin Feige and associates are busy with it. But in the center of this at the moment is the conflict about what happens with Kang The Conqueror and the storylines attached to him after Jonathan Majors’ firing? Well, a new rumor has resurrected the claim that the studio wants to disassociate Avengers: The Kang Dynasty from Kang's name.

The New Update

As per the latest update about the fifth Avengers movie, Marvel Studios now wants to get rid of The Kang Dynasty from the title of Avengers 5. This means that the studio is now planning to retitle Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. As per The Direct report, the studio has decided to move away from the time and also not rely the movie so heavily on Kang and there are two reasons to it. The first and foremost is, of course, the controversy around Jonathan Majors and the aftermath of it.

For the unversed, Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assault in the case filed against him, and that led to Marvel firing him from the role of Kang, which he debuted with in Loki season one. The second is that Kang had a bigger role in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania where he was the main villain. However, the movie failed to earn an expected number at the box office, and that also motivated the studio not to have Avengers 5 completely rely on Kang. Ant-Man 3 made $476 million worldwide, and it didn’t make any dent.

About Avengers 5

Meanwhile, the latest plans of the studio also go otherwise if they keep The Kang Dynasty in Avengers 5. As Jonathan Majors is fired, there is still no update on whether the studio is recasting the character or completely getting rid of him. Recently, rumors had it that the studio has eyed Colman Domingo to replace Majors, but nothing about it has been said after that. However, now with this new report, the last rumor feels unlikely to happen.

Meanwhile, Avengers 5 has a lot to do with the placement as it sits right before the endgame of the Multiverse Saga, Avengers: Secret Wars. Currently, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty aka Avengers 5 is slated for May 1, 2026, release. However, with the current progression of movies, it seems unlikely for the movie to release on the planned date and year.
