As superheroes work to find their footing again, with some hitting the mark and others falling short, James Cameron has maintained steady momentum for his two-decade-old Avatar franchise, now moving towards its third film. Yes, it’s only the third film—Avatar 3 officially titled Avatar: Fire and Ash. The movie follows Avatar: The Way of Water and was filmed simultaneously to avoid changes in the children’s appearances as they aged. Rumors have long suggested that this third film will elevate the Avatar franchise to new heights, and now Cameron has confirmed it by revealing some stunning concept art for Fire and Ash.

Avatar: Fire and Ash Concept Art Revealed

For those who missed it, James Cameron announced the title Avatar: Fire and Ash a few months ago at D23. At the D23 Brazil event, the movie was featured again, and the makers unveiled concept art for Fire and Ash. The new creatures and tribes look wild, ambitious, and incredibly captivating. The studio has since shared the art on their social media, and here’s what you need to know.

The five concept art stills from Avatar: Fire and Ash showcased at D23 reveal how the new tribe navigates through the air. This world has a more intense, fiery aesthetic, with visuals that elevate the landscapes and geography in even more vivid detail. Discussing the "Ash People," James Cameron described them as representing the darker side of the Na'vi and drew inspiration from real-world anger and rage. “There’s a lot of anger and rage in the world we live in right now,” Cameron said, explaining that the Ash People are a nomadic tribe who travel through the air. Their homeland was devastated by volcanic eruptions, leaving them to resent nature and everything the forest Na'vi holds sacred.
