Kerala State Award-winning actress Ann Augustine’s comeback movie Autorickshawkarante Bharya is gearing up for release. The makers unveiled the teaser of the film, which also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, on Wednesday and it reminded the audience of the actress’ debut movie Elsamma Enna Aankutty, in which she played a spirited woman who takes up all kinds of jobs to ensure that her family lives a stress-free life.

The upcoming movie, which is helmed by veteran filmmaker Harikumar, is based on M Mukundan’s novel of the same name and has Ann and Suraj playing a couple. The teaser showed glimpses of the equation between the husband and wife, and how the latter takes charge to bring about a change in her spouse’s life by driving an autorickshaw herself.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Harikumar said that Ann’s character is named Radhika and she is married to an indolent autorickshaw driver. “How she revitalises his life and shows him the error in his ways is what the movie, which is told from a woman's perspective, is about,” he explained.

The team had wrapped up the shoot of the film earlier this year. Incidentally, the team had initially planned to get Manju Warrier on board but decided to go with Ann, when she was looking for scripts to make her comeback to acting after a hiatus of a few years. Her last movie was Dulquer Salmaan’s Solo.

Apart from Ann and Suraj, the movie also has Swasika Vijay and Sunil Sukhada in pivotal roles. Shot extensively in Mahe, the film is currently scheduled to hit theatres on October 28 and will clash with Aishwarya Lekshmi’s mythological horror thriller Kumari, which is helmed by Ranam director Nirmal Sahadev and is distributed by Prithviraj Productions.

Meanwhile, Ann has also completed her portions in Rathish Ambat’s segment Kadalkattu in the upcoming Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories. The short film, which will be 40-minutes long, also has Indrajith Sukumaran and National Award-winner Aparna Balamurali as part of the cast.
