Attack: John Abraham-Jacqueline Fernandez starrer unveils new release date

The upcoming action-thriller is directed by Lakshya Raj Anand and also features Rakul Preet Singh, Ratna Pathak Shah and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles

India’s first super-soldier will make his journey to the silver screen a little late than previously expected. John Abraham’s upcoming action thriller, Attack, has got a new release date and the film will now be released in theatres on April 1, 2022.

Abraham took to his official social media handles to share the announcement. The post is accompanied by a release date poster, which features fighter aircrafts amid a cloud of what seems to be remnants of an explosion. The Satyameva Jayate actor captioned the post, “Get ready to witness our country's first super soldier and his strike to save the nation's pride Flag of India

#Attack - Part 1 releasing in cinemas worldwide on 1st April, 2022.”

The film had originally been slated to be released in January, but its release, like that of many other films, was postponed due to the rising intensity of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Abraham will play the role of a genetically-altered ‘super soldier’ in the film, whose creation was necessitated in the aftermath of a terrorist attack. In addition to Abraham, the upcoming film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh in pivotal roles. Ratna Pathak Shah and Prakash Raj also feature in the movie.

In a press release, Abraham had talked about how the film was entirely different from most action films seen in the country. The actor also said that his upcoming film was a ‘complex drama’ that also had science fiction elements and addressed the issue of terrorism in the nation.

Attack is directed by Lakshya Raj Anand and produced by Jayantilal Gada, John Abraham and Ajay Kapoor under the banners of JA Entertainment, AK Productions and Pen India Limited. The upcoming film is the first of two intended parts, with pre-production on the second part due to begin soon.
