Attack will have to see a growth at the Box Office over the weekday in order to be declared a hit.
John Abraham’s action movie Attack- Part 1 has struggled to perform at the Box Office, even over the weekend. The film has just about managed to cross Rs. 10 crore mark after three days. Currently, the movie has collected a total of Rs. 11.51 crores.
Attack has suffered because many viewers have dissed it as a copy of Hollywood films or one that has a ‘video game feel’. Such movies anyway tend to work less and so, this film also struggled at the Box Office, even more so after releasing a week after SS Rajamouli’s RRR hit cinemas.
The movie saw only a slight growth on Sunday from Saturday. It minted Rs. 4.25 crores on Sunday i.e. day three. The movie had earned Rs. 3.75 crores on Saturday and Rs. 3.51 crores on opening day Friday.
Considering that the movie is reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 70 crores, Attack will really have to struggle to sustain at the Box Office and be declared even a hit. While the movie has a positive word-of-mouth, given the current circumstances, Attack already had lesser scope of working but releasing at a time when The Kashmir Files and RRR have taken up more screens might have backfired for John’s film.
Now that the weekend has been poor for Attack, it is going to only get tougher for the film to pick up over the weekday. Even metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Delhi-NCR have not shown much interest in the movie, at least as much as they did for The Kashmir Files and RRR.
A few Hindi movies have managed to change the trend in mid-week. The Kashmir Files is the latest example on how a movie’s Box Office can grow on a Wednesday and work in the film’s favour. Attack might need that kind of magic if it does have a chance at becoming a hit at the Box Office.
