Sara Ali Khan is definitely keeping herself busy these days. The actress, who has two projects awaiting releases at the moment, has reportedly come on board for a patriotic film based on the 1942 Quit India Movement.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Sara will essay the role of the lead in the film, which is based on the prominent movement, launched by Mahatma Gandhi on August 8, 1942 during the struggle for independence for India. The film will reportedly be helmed by Kannan Iyer, popular for helming the 2013 film, Ek Thi Daayan, which starred Emraan Hashmi, Huma Qureshi, Konkona Sen Sharma and Kalki Koechlin.
The report states that the upcoming film will be produced by Karan Johar's production banner, Dharmatic Entertainment. The film is expected to be a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. An official announcement regarding the new project is yet to be made.
Sara's last film was Atrangi Re, which also had a direct-to-OTT release. The film, directed by Aanand L. Rai, also features Akshay Kumar and Dhanush. The film is available to stream on Disney+Hotstar.
Sara recently wrapped up filming for an untitled project, helmed by Mimi director Laxman Utekar. Backed by Dinesh Vijan’s production banner, the film will see her sharing the screen with Vicky Kaushal, marking the duo’s first on-screen collaboration. The film is touted to be a romantic comedy.
The actress, who made her film debut in Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Kedarnath, is currently working on filming Gaslight. The film features her first on-screen collaboration with Love Hostel actor, Vikrant Massey. The duo recently wrapped up shooting schedules for the same in Gujarat and Mumbai. Gaslight is directed by Pawan Kripalani and also stars Akshay Oberoi and Chitrangda Singh in pivotal roles. Ramesh Taurani has bankrolled the film.
