Atlee said that he was quite proud of Cibi's maiden venture
Filmmaker Atlee is all praise for his protégé Cibi Chakravarthi for his debut directorial Don starring Sivakarthikeyan. The film, which hit screens on May 13, has been doing well at the box office and has had a fantastic opening weekend. It is said that Don has got the second best collection among Sivakarthikeyan's films.
In the meantime, director Atlee, who watched the film, took some time out to praise Cibi Chakaravarthi and said that the Don director had indeed made him proud. Atlee wrote on his social media page, “#Don emotional family entertainer @Siva_Kartikeyan super performance da, lovely film, thanks for giving an opportunity to debut director, mass da @Dir_Cibi director sir, so proud of you da, great movie emotionally moved keep rocking love you da. Congrats to the entire team.”
Cibi Chakravarthy, too thanked his guru saying that he can't express his happiness through words. He wrote, “Thanks a ton to my guru @Atlee_dir sir your appreciation means a lot to me sir. Couldn’t express my happiness through words. Am highly elated sir.”
Priyanka Mohan plays the leading lady and SJ Suryah plays the antagonist. The star cast includes Soori, Samuthirakani, Sivaangi, RJ Vijay, and Munishkanth. Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander. Cinematography is by KM Bhaskaran and editing is Nagooran Ramachandran. Don has Sivakarthikeyan playing a college student. The portions for the film have been canned across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Pollachi and Udumalpettai, and has been cleared with a U certificate from the Censor Board.
In the meantime, we hear that Don has become Sivakarthikeyan's biggest opening film in the USA and the third Tamil film to cross 100k$ in a single day. The other two films that have achieved the feat are reported to be Thalapathy Vijay's Beast and Ajith's Valimai. The film had apparently opened in 225 screens.
