Actors Asif Ali and Madhoo are the latest to join the upcoming Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories. The duo will be teaming for director Aswathy Vasudevan Nair’s segment based on the short story Vilpana, according to reports. The shoot of the segment has already kicked off.

The segment will mark Madhoo’s comeback to Malayalam. The Yodha actress had earlier signed up to play a full-length role in Vikruthi director Emcy Joseph’s Ennittu Avasanam along with Arjun Ashokan and Anna Ben. The upcoming segment from the Netflix anthology is rumoured to be around 40 minutes.

Aswathy’s segment is the sixth segment from the anthology, which is reported to have 10 episodes. Priyadarshan will be directing two – based on Shilalikhthangal and Olavum Theeravum, Jayaraj will be helming a segment based on Swargam Thurakunna Samayam, Lijo Jose Pellissery will be directing Mammootty in a featurette based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s memoir Kadugannawa Oru Yathra and Santosh Sivan’s short film has Siddique in the lead.

Currently, Santosh and Jayaraj have completed their projects. Jayaraj’s segment, which has Indrans, Nedumudi Venu, Kailash, Surabhi Lakshmi and Renji Panicker, completed its shoot a month ago. Priyadarshan is finishing work on his Shilalikhithangal feature, which has Biju Menon and Shanthi Krishna. He is also set to begin work on Olavum Theeravum, which is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short story from 1957. The project will have Mohanlal playing a timber trader.

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s segment is reportedly set to shoot in Sri Lanka and Kerala, and is about a journalist tracing the roots of a Sinhalese girl he had met when he was young. The segment will have Mammootty playing the role of the writer inspired by MT Vasudevan Nair himself.
