Ashneer Grover and Anupam Mittal were seen together for the first time on Shark Tank India season 1 but that was not their first meeting. Ashneer has shared that he had met Anupam over a business proposal previously and rejected the fellow shark back then. Ashneer wanted Anupam to invest in BharatPe.

While talking at Lovely Professional University, Ashneer revealed that he had approached Anupam before their meeting on the show. Back then Ashneer wanted Anupam to invest in BharatPe.

Interestingly, Anupam got a few months late in investing and the deal was already finalized. That is when Ashneer rejected Anupam as a business partner.

Ashneer and Anupam were also the opposite ends of the spectrum on Shark Tank India season 1. While Anupam often kept his cool despite the bizarre circumstances around him, Ashneer gave it back with his punchlines. Nonetheless, they became two iconic characters thanks to the show.

Ashneer became popular on Shark Tank India for rejecting ideas and in the meanest way possible. He would ask people to downright shut their business down and not even collect samples or call them ‘dogla’ for trying to pitch their project. It is thanks to his mean behaviour that Ashneer became a popular meme.

Despite his popularity, Ashneer’s life changed drastically after Shark Tank India season 1. He resigned from BharatPe just some time into the show ending.

Ashneer is the only celebrity who is not a part of Shark Tank India’s second season. He has been replaced by CarDekho’s Amit Jain for Shark Tank India season 2.

Ashneer had recently announced his memoir, also inspired from his famous Shark Tank India dialogue. The memoir is titled Doglapan: The Hard Truth about Life and Start-Ups. The book is expected to be available by December 26.
