To call Vicky Donor a revolutionary film in Bollywood would not be an understatement. The film was by far one of the first in the industry to address a hush hush topic that many filmmakers at the time were hesitant to speak off. The film ,which revolves around the themes of infertility and sperm donation, was released on April 20, 2012, completing ten years today. To mark the occasion, stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam reminisced about the film on their social media handles.The film marked the Bollywood debuts of both Khurrana and Gautam.
Khurrana shared a photograph of him from the film’s sets during a rehearsal shot. In the photograph’s caption, the star mentions how it was his first day on set when they were shooting the first scene from the film. He also reminisced about the ‘fond memories’ he had as well as of the struggles he had to go through to reach where he is today in the industry. He also thanked the film’s director, Shoojit Sircar, and producers Ronnie Lahiri and John Abraham. The film was the maiden production of Abraham.

Gautam also took a trip down memory lane on her social media handles, posting a photograph of her at ‘the place where it all began’, where she auditioned for her role in the film. She said that even the sofa seen in the photograph had been there when she auditioned. In the caption, the actress thanked Sircar and the team behind the film.

In addition to Khurrana and Gautam, Vicky Donor also featured Annu Kapoor,Dolly Ahluwalia,Kamlesh Gill and Puja Gupta, among others in pivotal roles. The critically acclaimed film won a National Award and was also remade in Telugu and Tamil as Naruda Donoruda (2016) and Dharala Prabhu (2020), respectively.
