Arya’s Amazon Prime Video series, helmed by Milind Rau, titled The Village

Amazon Prime Video announced a host of new titles today, at their See Where It Takes You event held in Mumbai. The title for Kollywood star Arya’s debut web series was also announced at the event. The series is titled The Village, and the streaming giant also announced the same on their official social media handles, sharing a first look poster for the show as well.

The poster shows Arya in a very dire state in a foggy forest, as several hands grab at him and try to pull him into a pit in the ground. Inches away is a blood-stained knife, which he is seen reaching for.

A teaser for the show was also unveiled at the event, which was hosted by Karan Johar. The teaser gives a glimpse into the tumultuous fate in store for Arya and his family, as they have to face off against some spine-chilling creatures.

In addition to Arya, the upcoming series also features Divya Pillai, Aazhiya, Aadukalam Naren, Thalaivasal Vijay, Muthukumar, Kalai Raani, George M, John Kokken, Arjun Chidambaram, Pooja, Jayaprakash and P.N. Sunny, among others, in pivotal roles. The series is based on the graphic novel of the same name, written by Shamik Dasgupta. Milind Rau, popular for helming films such as Aval (2017) and Netrikann (2021), directed the series. The series is written by Rau along with Deepthi Govindarajan and Deeraj Vaidy. The series is produced under the banner of Studio Shakthi.

The Village is among the huge slate of titles Amazon Prime video is planning on releasing this year. Consisting of 41 titles, the slate includes shows such as Shahid Kapoor’s Farzi and Naga Chaitanya's Dhootha, both of which mark the actors’ web series debut.
