Arulnithi is playing a cop and it will be different from what he has previously done
Diary, starring Arulnithi in the lead, will be released on August 11. The makers took to Twitter to confirm the news. Written and directed by newbie Innasi Pandiyan, the film also stars Jayaprakash, Aadukalam Kishore, Sha Ra, and Dhanam of YouTube channel Nakkalites fame.
Pavitra, a Singapore-based doctor, will be seen playing the female lead.
The title look poster of Diary was released by director Vetrimaaran, in 2020.
Innasi has previously assisted director Ajay Gnanamuthu, who incidentally, also made his debut with an Arulnithi-starrer (Demonte Colony).
"Diary is an investigative thriller, but there's more to it than just that. Arulnithi is playing a cop and it will be different from what he has previously done," Innasi told Cinema Express.
Also, he told Cinema Express, "We shot the film in Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri, Coimbatore, and Chennai. Unlike other thrillers that use a hill station just for the eeriness, Diary’s story itself demands such a backdrop. It will be an edge-of-the-seat thriller with many twists and turns."
Apparently, Arulnithi has lost 20 kilos to fit into his character.
Diary will have music by Ron Ethan Yohann (Maya, Game Over). Cinematography will be handled by Aravinnd Singh and editing by Raja Sethupathy.
Arulnithi was last seen in K-13 and Kalathil Sandhippom.
All praise for Arulnithi, Producer Kathiresan was quoted in The Times of India, "He has become an asset to many producers, for his movies are benefiting everyone in the trade circle. Personally, I am excited to watch the film's output as the team is young and raring to go."
Commenting about his choice of films, Arulnithi had told Cinema Express, "I don’t shoot more than one film at a time. I don’t commit myself to a new film before the release of my present one. It is easy to tide by, given how kind and encouraging the audience are. Every time I hear someone complimenting my choice of roles and scripts, it provides me with great assurance that I am heading in the right direction."
