Borrder starring Arun Vijay in the lead, was one of the first Tamil films expected to hit the screens as soon as theatres started functioning in the state a few months ago. There were speculation earlier that the movie might release on August 12. However, movie halls in Tamil Nadu were granted permission to reopen only in the last week of August.
In September, the makers officially announced that the Arivazhagan-directorial will have a theatrical release on November 19. But going by the latest news, it looks like the action thriller will be postponed again owing to the heavy rains in Tamil Nadu.
There are unconfirmed reports doing the rounds that the film will be releasing only in December. It has to be seen if this will affect the plans of those filmmakers who were eyeing December for the release of their movies. Vishal's Veerame Vaagai Soodum had earlier announced its arrival in December, though they are yet to come up with a date.
It is heard that Dhanush's Maaran and Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan might also hit the screens next month if everything goes well for them. For now, an official update is awaited from the makers of Borrder.
Quite surprisingly, the date November 19 was already flooded with four other Tamil releases as well. Santhanam's comic caper Sabhaapathy CV Kumar's time-loop thriller Jango, Sashikanth's indie thriller Kadaseela Biriyani and Shanthnu's rom-com Murungakkai Chips are other movies which had announced their theatrical release earlier on November 19.
The subsequent week will also witness release of four Tamil films in theatres; one on November 25 and three projects on November 26.
