Aranmanai 4 box office collection: While we are nearly halfway into 2024, it is already a known fact that the Tamil cinema has been facing a lull phase. Even though theatres saw sporadic success through films like Blue Star, Lover and Star. However, Aranmanai 4, the recently released Tamil film starring and directed by filmmaker Sundar C, has collected Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office, as per the makers.

Aranmanai enters 100-crore club

Aranmanai 4 is the fourth instalment in the horror film franchise created by Sundar C. The filmmaker also plays the lead role in the films. According to makers, Aranmanai 4 has become the first Tamil film of 2024 to enter the prestigious Rs 100-crore club. The film was released in theatres on May 3.

The film revolves around a Chennai-based lawyer who hears bad news about his eloped sister and her family and goes to her village to check on the happenings. However, he slowly gets to know that there is a human flesh-feasting spirit called Baak, that is haunting the people.

Each film in the Aranmanai franchise is a standalone movie with a different storyline and cast. The previous films in the franchise are available for streaming on SunNXT and ZEE5, or alternatively on OTTplay Premium.

Aranmanai 4 received mixed to positive responses upon its theatrical release. OTTplay gave 2.5 stars for the film and said, “There is a novelty from the rest of the films in franchise and if you are a fan of commercial cinema infiltering its way through all film genres, then Aranmanai 4 is your cup of tea.”

Apart from Sundar C, the film also stars actors Tamannaah, Raashii Khanna, Santhosh Pratap, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Delhi Ganesh, Kovai Sarala, and others. Aranmanai 4 has music scored by Hiphop Tamizha, and shot by cinematographer E Krishnasamy aka Kicha. The film is edited by Fenny Oliver. An OTT release date for the film is yet to be announced by the makers.
