AR Rahman, first look of the film and Mani Ratnam
Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is one of the most awaited Tamil films in 2022. Featuring a stellar cast including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobhita Dhulipala among others, the film was earlier supposed to be a summer release next year.
It first look was unveiled in July from the social media handles of Lyca Productions and Mani's Madras Talkies which are jointly bankrolling the mammoth project. Movie buffs are eagerly waiting for the team to announce the official release date of this multi-starrer flick.
The film's composer AR Rahman has now surprised his fans and movie buffs by sharing a video from the set. It has Mani Ratnam explaining a crucial scene to Drums Sivamani and other musicians. The maverick filmmaker describes in detail about the rhythm of music which should differ in a scene depending on the varied emotions in it.
He says, "This big a sound that is rising and coming up, and just as it sits there the emperor, and the Ponniyin Selvan, both of them are coming in. That is when the second wave of rising comes in, and then it reaches the big point. The third wave comes in when the crown is brought and about to be served...and when it reaches its peak... Ponniyin Selvan puts.."
The background of the video has a drum set, a set of tablas and a few percussion instruments. Rahman captioned the post as "PS PS PS briefing from the master #manirathnam #ponniyinselvan (sic)." The first part of Ponniyin Selvan, shot in Hyderabad, Madhya Pradesh and Pollachi, was wrapped a while ago.
