Composer AR Rahman has courted fresh controversy after he shared a slightly over four-minute clip featuring highlights from his recent Marakkuma Nenjam concert.
Marakkuma Nenjam concert highlights
The concert took place in Chennai earlier this month amid a lot of fanfare. However, owing to a series of mismanagement and judgemental errors, the event came under heavy fire from the public. However, the Oscar-winning composer aimed to show that the event wasn't solely marred by unfortunate incidents; it also witnessed numerous joyful moments.
Energetic performances and hits galore at concert
Judging from the highlights, it's clear that those who had made it inside the venue had a fantastic time grooving to the blockbuster compositions of Rahman. It seems Rahman has handpicked the best of his compositions sparring 30 years of career to put the crackling performance.
Besides Rahman, top singers including Hariharan, AR Ameen, Shweta Mohan, and Subha among many others crooned the hit numbers. The suprise of the evening seemed to have been the performance from comedic Vadivelu. He joined Rahman on stage to sing a hit melancholic melody from the movie Maamannan. And there were grand fireworks to add to the excitement of the audience.
Twitter backlash against AR Rahman
In the meantime, many, who claim to have suffered due to the event's mismanagement, have lashed out at Rahman. They expressed their frustration while lamenting that they were yet to be compensated for all their troubles.

"I have lots to say. But the sheer disrespect to the people who suffered is staggering. #Marakkumanenjam ah? Suthama marakadhu thalaiva. Romba thanks!," wrote an X user.
Many opined that sharing the highlights was in a very bad taste considering many women allegedly faced sexual harassment at the event owing to the overcrowding.
"Multiple women were harassed in this exact concert have some shame and respect ffs," wrote another user.
What happened at the Chennai concert?
Marakkuma Nenjam was marked by the traumatic experiences of hundreds of fans, who were eager to watch AR Rahman in action. Many accused the organiser, ACTC Events, of gross mismanagement and scamming the people by selling more tickets than the venue could hold.
The visuals showing the sufferings of fans at the event caused massive outrage on social media, forcing the state government to order a probe and book the organisers.
