A sneak peek of Udhayanidhi Stalin's upcoming film with director Mari Selvaraj, Maamannan set the internet on fire on Sunday evening. The video was released by the film's music composer AR Rahman. In the black and white video, a pyre is seen burning and bursting into flames and Udhayanidhi Stalin's character is seen standing next to it after it turns to ashes. Wishing Udhayanidhi Stalin on his birthday, AR Rahman said, " This is my first film with Udhayanidhi Stalin and Mari Selvaraj. It's very interesting to work with Mari Selvaraj as his thoughts and style of filmmaking are different. I also wish Udhayanidhi Stalin good health and happiness."

Keerthy Suresh, who plays the leading lady in the film, too, shared a BTS picture along with Udhayanidhi Stalin and wrote,"Wishing you a very Happy Birthday @Udhaystalin sir! #Maamannan was a lovely experience & working with you made it even more special. Can’t wait for everyone to not just watch the film but also the BTS. Thanks for all the laughs and fun we had on set everyday! (sic)."

Udhayanidhi Stalin had earlier stated in an interview with Cinema Vikatan that Maamannan was an important film in his career. "When I saw the rushes, I found that Keerthy and my scenes were in bits and pieces. It was Fahadh (Faasil) all the way. Vadivelu sir was like the senior who was minding the class and acting his portions. In the film, Maamannnan is Vadivelu and he plays the titular character. He might even win an award for the same."

The technical team comprises Theni Eswar as the cinematographer, Selva RK as the editor, Dhilip Subbarayan as the action choreographer and Sandy Master as the dance choreographer. Maamannan is bankrolled by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies and expectations are riding high on the film.
