The team of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan has wrapped up the sound mixing of the film. One of Hollywood's popular sound engineers Greg Townley, who is working on the sound of Ponniyin Selvan, shared a picture from the recording studio and captioned it, “Just wrapped mixing the music for a film with AR Rahman in Atmos @arrahman.” (sic)." Rahman is currently in the US on a 15-day city tour. He has been sharing regular updates about the concert and has recently shared that he was working on Vikram's Cobra as well.
It was only recently that the first single from the film Ponni Nadhi was released and the song has already become a chartbuster. The song is said to be a tribute to the Cholas when Vanthiyathevan marches into the Chola history. The lyrics for the song is by newcomer Ilango Krishnan and has been sung by none other than AR Rahman. It is said that the next single might be released in the thirst week of August.
The star cast for the film includes Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhivarman, Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan, Trisha as Kundavai and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini. The supporting cast includes Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Sarathkumar, Rahman, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
Ponniyin Selvan is Mani Ratnam's dream project and the is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name. The film is split into two parts and the first part is set for a pan- India release on September 30. The film will release in five languages, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Karthi had recently revealed during the single launch that the shoot for both portions were completed in a span of 120 days. Cinematography is by Ravi Varman, editing by Sreekar Prasad and the art direction is handled by Thota Tharrani. Ponniyin Selvan is said to be one of the biggest releases in Tamil this year.
