AR Rahman: 99 Songs is our labour of love

99 Songs marks A.R. Rahman's production debut.

Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman’s debut film as a producer and writer, 99 Songs, released on multiple OTT platforms on May 21.

Talking about the OTT release of the film that is available in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, Rahman said, “It is our labour of love and creative adventure, which you can now witness from the safety of your homes.”

99 Songs, which released in theatres on April 16, marked the debut of actors Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas.

The Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy directorial follows the journey of a young man, Jay, whose life centers around music and his girlfriend Sophie. All goes well in his life till the day Sophie’s father demands Jay to choose between his daughter and music.

Vishwesh’s debut directorial is an ode to the timeless power of love and music, replete with tunes composed by Rahman and featuring the vocals of Armaan Malik, Arijit Singh, Shashaa Tirupati, Raftaar and the maestro himself.

Co-produced by Ideal Entertainment, the film also stars Aditya Seal, Lisa Ray and Manisha Koirala in pivotal roles.
