James Wan, the film's director, builds on the popularity of its predecessor by promising an amazing underwater adventure. James Wan's film tells a story about brotherhood. To locate and eliminate Black Manta, Jason Momoa—also known as Arthur Curry—enlists the help of his half-brother Orm. They put aside their differences and worked together to defend their realm and avert a world catastrophe.

Talking about playing the King of Atlantis, Jason Momoa earlier shared: “I don’t necessarily want it to be the end… [but] I don’t think it’s really, like, a choice."

The initial release date for Jason Momoa's movie was December 16, 2022. The COVID-19 pandemic prevented post-production work from being finished, so the movie was rescheduled to March 17, 2023. The film's second postponement, this time to December 25, disappointed fans. Finally, on December 22, it was released in theatres.
