Produced by Mummy Save Me and Devaki maker Lohith H, the horror flick, is being directed by Prabhakaran.
In early January, director and now producer Lohith H had announced a film with one of the most popular Kannada TV and live show hosts, Anushree in the lead. To be directed by Prabhakaran, who had assisted Lohith on his films Mummy-Save Me and Devaki, this was to be a horror flick that would bring Anushree back to the big screen after five years. The TV host-actress, who was last seen in choreographer-director Imran Sardhariya’s Uppu Huli Khara in 2017, has now begun shooting for the new film, which is based on devil worship and has been aptly titled, Saithan – Story of a cult.
Speaking at the title launch, Anushree said that she was contend with her TV career, which has been going great guns, and was not focused on doing films, when Imran mentioned that she should listen to a script that Lohith had. “Although I had done a few good characters earlier, I wasn’t besieged with offers thereafter, so, in that sense, I am still a struggling actor. Saithan is a new journey for me in films. Imran introduced me to Lohith, whose debut Mummy – Save Me, I had seen. After speaking to him and the team, what struck me is that Saithan is not a film revolving around a hero or heroine; every character is important to the narrative, with the real hero being the story,” Anushree said.
According to the makers, Saithan – Story of a cult is about god and demons and explores devil worship, based on real-life events. The film will be shot entirely in Goa, with Krish Kymal serving as cinematographer and Nobin Paul composing the music. When he’d launched his banner in January, Lohith had said, “Have started this production house with the notion of giving wings to the talents who dreams big like me which in turn helps us to provide world-class content to our very passionate audience.”
