Anurag Kashyap: Karan Johar is a widely misunderstood person, found him to be like me
According to Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar is a misjudged individual. He stated that Karan was an unexpected encounter for him since he hailed from a wealthy family.

Currently, Anurag Kashyap is focused on promoting his most recent movie, Dobaaraa. Recently released on the big screen, Anurag's movie, featuring Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati, received favourable reviews from experts and audiences. One of the most well-known and admired directors in the business, Kashyap is credited with directing several famous and successful Bollywood movies, including Gangs of Wasseypur Dev D, Manmarziyaan, and Black Friday among others.
The director discussed his relationship with Karan Johar, who has come under fire for supposedly encouraging nepotism in Bollywood, in a recent interview with Pinkvilla.

According to Anurag, Karan is a misjudged personality. Since he hails from an affluent background, he claimed that he only discovered Karan much later. The director added, "I’ve judged him a lot. When I met him, I found him to be like me but on the other side of the coin. He also treats his filmmakers, people, and directors with respect and gives them as much freedom and empowerment as possible. He is a misunderstood person. The most amazing thing about him is that he has his own critic. Today, the creative head of Dharmatics, Somen Mishra, was the biggest Karan Johar critic, and what Karan Johar did was hire him. That is a sign of a visionary and a courageous man."
Similarly, Dobaaraa stars Taapsee, who previously worked with Anurag for the 2018 love drama Manmarziyaan which also starred Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan. Ekta Kapoor produced Dobaara, an official adaptation of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage. The movie, which also stars Pavail, Nassar, Vidushi Mehra, and various other performers, hits theatres on August 19. The movie was presented at the London Film Festival, the Fantasia International Film Festival, and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
