Anupamaa actor Sagar Parekh was offered Bigg Boss 17; here's why he rejected it

Sagar Parekh played the role of Samar in Anupamaa. The show, headlined by Rupali Ganguly, recently witnessed Sagar's exit after his character's death. While Parekh was still doing Anupamaa, the actor was offered Bigg Boss 17 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11. He was keen on participating in either of the reality shows. However, the actor ended up turning down BB 17's offer.
Here's why Sagar Parekh didn't participate on Bigg Boss 17
In an interview with ETimes TV, Sagar Parekh said he was surprised when he was offered Bigg Boss 17. The actor expected that he would get the show after doing a few TV shows as a lead.
"I had received the offer before leaving Anupamaa. I even went to the meeting and things were fructifying but my parents didn’t want me to do Bigg Boss. My mom told me, ‘Mujhe tu itna bhi famous nahi chahiye, I am happy with whatever you are.’ I even told her that this is what she always wanted. She literally told me, ‘I want you to become an actor and not a celebrity only. I think you will become a celebrity with your skills anyway.’ Maybe later I would surely participate," revealed Sagar.
Sagar Parekh couldn't do Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 because...
Sagar further revealed he wanted to confirm his participation on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11. However, the actor wasn't able to do so because of his contractual obligations with Rajan Shahi's Anupamaa. Sagar couldn't give the confirmation within the required time as the shoot of JDJ 11 had already begun. Having said that, he is willing to do the dance-reality show as a wildcard contestant, if given a chance.

Before Sagar, Paras Kalnawat played the role of Samar in Anupamaa. The daily soap airs on Star Plus every day at 10 pm and it is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar.
