Bollywood actor Anupam Kher visited Kalighat temple after coming to Kolkata. The actor, who recently appeared in the movie Kashmir Files, came to the city to attend a programme. Anupam, who is known to be a supporter of the central government, went to Kalighat right after arriving in the city. Incidentally, the area is known as the locality of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Anupam gave a puja in Kalighat and said, “I feel good coming here. I prayed to Maa for our country's unity. I also prayed for the soul of my friend Satish Kaushik. Jai Maa Kali!”
However, it is not known whether Anupam met the CM. He wore a long maroon-colored kurta and white pajamas. Crowds were formed to see the actor. The scene was captured in a video, which Anupam shared on his social media.
Anupam is seen walking in Kalighat with folded hands. He has a vermilion tilak on his forehead and a number of hibiscus garlands. He says 'I came to see Maa. I made the disciples, and I prayed for all. I feel grateful to have come here.'
Anupam's wife, actress Kiran Kher, is a member of the BJP and an ex-MP. The opposition to the government complained that the movie Kashmir Files echoed the center's viewpoint regarding the massacre of the Kashmiri pandits, which sparked a lot of debates. Anupam, as expected, supported the film's statement.
