Anupam Kher remembers Satish Kaushik in Emergency as Jagjivan Ram: 'His brilliance will leave an impact forever'

Satish Kaushik's legacy lives on in Kangana Ranaut's Emergency as Anupam Kher fondly remembers his dear friend.

Anupam Kher shared Satish Kaushik's transition to Jagjivan Ram, the former Deputy Prime Minister of India, in order to honour the memory of the late actor. The veteran actor posted a video to his Instagram page where Kaushik discussed his forthcoming role in Emergency. Kher and Shreyas Talpade have important roles in the Kangana Ranaut-directed movie.

In the video, Kaushik expressed his gratitude for landing the role of Jagjivan Ram. He also referred to Kangana as a director of actors, praising her filmmaking abilities. The clip also depicted his makeup transformation from real life to his character, Jagjivan Ram.

Kaushik also states that portraying a well-known figure can sometimes pose a dilemma for an actor regarding how to approach the role. Should he behave like what the audience has already seen or read about him, or should he bring some of himself into it? The late actor considered himself extremely fortunate to have portrayed Jagjivan Ram in Emergency.

Kher shared a post recalling the legacy of his friend Kaushik, who portrays Babu Jagjivan Ram in Emergency. He will forever remember his genius as a famous performer in a historic role.

Satish Kaushik's death

In 2023, Kaushik died after a heart attack at the age of 66. 

Kher remarked, providing information on the late actor and their relationship following his passing, that both of them come from lower-middle-class families. They are proud to have established a reputation for themselves. Mumbai has given them the opportunity to succeed, and they have done so. Kher is struggling to cope with this loss. Kaushik had a great sense of humour, and he used to be light-hearted about everything. He is a role model for living a generous life, and his premature departure from it will always be a source of grief for Kher. He had a significant impact on people's lives, and they were always together due to our shared creative minds and his exceptional acting talent.
