A little while ago, team Vikrant Rona presented a glimpse of the song Hey Fakira, the lyrical video of which will be released tomorrow, July 12, at 5.02 pm. The song, focusing on Nirup Bhandari’s character Sanjeev Gambhira, is the third from the Vikrant Rona album that is being released into the public domain. What’s interesting about the sneak peek of the song is that it tells us that Nirup’s brother, director Anup Bhandari not only fills in as lyricist, but also as singer on the number. Singing credits of Hey Fakira are shared by Sanjith Hegde, Chinmayi Sripada, Anup Bhandari and music director B Ajaneesh Loknath.

Hey Fakira is the third song from Vikrant Rona, and was initially expected much earlier in the film’s promotional material. The makers had released a promotional tour map, in which Hey Fakira was among the first to be released, but the order was then changed around, to make way for the Queen of Good Times – Gadang Rakkamma, to come out first. This was followed by the film’s trailer and then the Rajkumari – Lullaby song. The Lullaby song marked Anup’s debut as lyricist in Hindi as well.

Vikrant Rona, which is Anup’s first film with Kiccha Sudeep in the lead is a fantasy action drama set in an earlier time period. It is rumoured that the film has a connect to Anup’s debut directorial Rangitaranga, after eagle-eyed fans spotted a newspaper clipping about an incident that occurred in Kamarottu Junction (Kamarottu is where Rangitaranga’s story unfolds) in the trailer of Vikrant Rona. Anup, though, has been tight-lipped about any such connection. Apart from Sudeep and Nirup, the film also has Neetha Ashok in a pivotal role. Milana Nagaraj and Jacqueline Fernandez have cameos.

The film, produced by Shalini Artss and co-produced by Invenio Origin, is set to release in theatres in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi in 3D on July 28. The Hindi version is being presented by Salman Khan Films, while Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films will distribute the Malayalam version.
