The Tinu Pappachan directorial completed 75 days in theatres on Friday
It’s a special week for the team of Tinu Pappachan’s Ajagajantharam. The Antony Varghese and Arjun Ashokan-starrer, which hit theatres in December, has completed 75 days in theatres and has now released on a streaming platform.
The movie, scripted by Kichu Tellus and Vineeth Vishwam, had wrapped up its shoot just before the pandemic and the wait for the makers to get it to theatres lasted almost two years. That’s why the success doubles the joy for Tinu and team.
In a social media post, the filmmaker thanked the audience for the support. “We had to go through a lot of crisis during this phase and that’s why this success is more of survival for us. Your support through these tough times also fuels us for our next film,” wrote the director.
Ajagajantharam is streaming on Sony LIV from February 25. The movie now joins the list of Malayalam films such as Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Hridayam and Unni Mukundan’s Meppadiyan, which are still running in theatres and are also available on streaming platforms.
The action-thriller, set against the backdrop of a temple festival, revolves the incidents that happen when two mahouts – played by Antony and Kichu – lock horns with the villagers led by Arjun Ashokan and Sabumon Abdusamad’s characters. Packed with action, the film marks Tinu’s second directorial after Swathanthryam Ardhrathriyil. The movie also has Vineeth Vishwam, Jaffar Idukki, Chemban Vinod Jose and Lukman Avaran.
Meanwhile, Arjun Ashokan will next be seen in Member Rameshan 9aam Ward, which is a family entertainer that has him playing a painter who is thrust into the world of politics. The movie, which releases in theatres on February 25, also has Shabareesh Varma, Chemban Vinod Jose and Sabumon.
Antony Varghese is currently shooting for Lyla, which has him playing the titular character of a college student. The movie’s shoot is currently progressing in Kochi.
