Directed by Joshiy, Antony stars Joju George, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Nyla Usha, Vijayaraghavan and Asha Sharath
The makers of director Joshiy’s upcoming release Antony - starring Chemban Vinod Jose, Nyla Usha, Vijayaraghavan and Asha Sharath - have launched a new teaser. Kalyani Priyadarshan plays the female lead in Antony which also marks a reunion of the Porinju Mariyam Jose cast, as that film also featured Chemban, Nyla and Joju. The teaser of Antony promises an action-packed film that also explores Joju’s mass appeal as an actor. Let’s take a closer look at the teaser.
Mass avatar of Joju George
In Antony’s teaser, Joju’s character is introduced with a prologue of Vijayaraghavan, calling him the incarnation of satan. It appears that Joju will be playing the role of a goon in the film, just like his character in his first film with Joshiy, Porinju Mariyam Jose. It was the first movie to tap into Joju’s mass hero appeal, and it is expected that Antony will also have all the elements to showcase the star version of Joju.
Stunt sequences
The teaser showcases the quintessential stunt scenes of a Joshiy film. It includes slow-motion fight sequences and close-up shots of the hero. While the recent Malayalam movies emphasise more on acrobatic action, Antony’s teaser shows that Joshiy is still a master of films that focus on the actor’s swag.
Bible reference
Many Malayalam thriller movies, such as Memories and Lucifer have incorporated Bible references. In fact, verses and quotes from the Bible have become a style symbol in most contemporary Malayalam films. The teaser of Antony also features a Bible reference, which sparks curiosity among viewers.
Kalyani Priyadarshan in a never-before-seen avatar
Kalyani is known for portraying romantic characters in movies such as Bro Daddy and Hridayam. However, she recently surprised her fans by appearing as a fierce boxer who defeats her opponent in the teaser of Antony. Earlier, Kalyani had expressed her excitement on social media about being a part of the movie, and said that the role would test her versatility as an actor.
