Anthracite OTT release date: The French series is full of sinister mountainous cults, anthracite mines, and murders, making it nearly impossible for its locals to maintain peace and balance.

Anthracite is a new six-episode mystery thriller series that follows the mass suicide of a cult’s members in 1994 and its dangerous effect on the nearby small Alps village thirty years later. Directed by Julius Berg, the series was created by Fanny Robert, along with a team of writers comprising Mehdi Ouahab, Maxime Berthemy, and Sophie Lebarbier. Anthracite is ready to stream on OTT this summer.

Anthracite’s global distribution rights have been acquired by Netflix and it will debut on April 10, 2024. The series has a French trailer yet, while one for English viewers will be released soon. Anthracite has a stellar ensemble French cast, comprising the likes of Clément Hatik, Noémie Schmidt, Camille Lou, Stefano Cassetti, Godart, Kad Merad, Raphaël Ferret, and Vincent Rottiers.

Anthracite explores the twisted aftermath of a mountainous cult’s mass suicide when, 30 years later, a woman is murdered in a similar manner. The mass suicide had taken place in the Alps, near an anthracite mine and a cosy, rustic hamlet, and had made headlines. Protagonist Jaro Gatsi (Hatik) enters the picture as an ex-motocross champion and young offender who wishes to repent for his actions and make a new start.

However, his history and newness in the area create suspicion and soon Jaro finds himself accused of a murder he did not commit. He gets some help from the socially awkward, young ultra-geek, Ida, who has her own set of eccentricities, a good heart, and a purpose. She is in town to investigate the disappearance of her journalist father, who had been abducted while investigating the cult.

Both scratch the others’ backs for their respective purposes. But as the stakes rise and mask-laden figures emerge in town, danger descends on the mountainous village as the truth about the incident thirty years ago is slowly unveiled. As for the answers to their respective problems, Ida and Jaro must look back into the secrets of their past. They had better hurry at it and uncover the mystery before it is too late, as the price may be too heavy to pay otherwise.
