The multi-starrer is helmed by Kannan Thamarakkulam, who has also directed Anoop Menon-starrer Varaal
Director Kannan Thamarakkulam’s Vidhi: The Verdict, which is based on the 2020 flat demolitions in Maradu, Kochi, is all set to release in theatres this month. The multi-starrer, which has Anoop Menon, Baiju Santosh, Dharmajan Bolghatty, Senthil Krishna, Kailash and Sheelu Abraham in lead roles, is gearing up for a November 25 release.
Kannan took to his social media page on Wednesday to announce the new release date. “After a lengthy legal battle, we have changed the title from Maradu 357 to Vidhi: The Verdict and will release the film in theatres on November 25,” wrote the filmmaker, sharing a new poster featuring the leads of the movie.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, when asked if the delay in release has had an impact on the relevance of the film, Kannan told us that he is confident that it has now assumed even more importance. “The movie doesn’t just deal with the demolition of the flats. In the backdrop of the floods and landslides in Kerala, the film now is more relevant than ever as it also deals with nature preservation and land acquisition,” said the director.
Kannan, meanwhile, will also have another release a week after Vidhi hits theatres. Titled Udumbu, his next film is slated to hit theatres on December 3. The movie, which has Senthil Krishna, Hareesh Peradi and Alencier Ley, is a dark thriller that was shot right after the pandemic lockdown last year.
The director has also completed shooting for Anoop Menon and Prakash Raj’s political drama Varaal, which also has Sunny Wayne and Renji Panicker as part of the cast. He is set to resume the shoot of Arjun Sarja’s Virunnu next.
