An official announcement on the film Thiruchitrambalam was made by production house Sun Pictures in August last year, but they haven't come up with any update on the project since then. Actor-producer Udhayanidhi had recently said that the movie is likely to hit the screens on July 1.
There have been reports that the film might release only on July 28, on Dhanush's birthday. Anyway, fans of the star are upset with the lack of updates from the production house. Many of them took to social media to express disappointment over the same and tagged Sun Pictures along with their messages on Twitter.
Some of them expressed anger over Dhanush and director Mithran Jawahar as well. Thiruchitrambalam marks the actor-filmmaker duo's reunion after more than a decade. Anirudh was roped in to compose music for the project. The combination of Dhanush and Anirudh, popularly known as D n A is back with this film after a seven-year hiatus.
Nithya Menen, Raashi Khanna and Priya Bhavani Shankar play female leads in the film which has Om Prakash handling cinematography and Prasanna GK handling editing. A couple of short videos from the location featuring Dhanush and Nithya dancing for a sequence were leaked last year.
The team is yet to come up with a first look, and fans feel they have all the right to question makers about their lethargic approach towards its promotion. Its shooting was reportedly completed in less than two month's time. The movie is Dhanush's theatrical release after Karnan.
His last three outings were direct OTT releases. Jagame Thanthiram released on Netflix while Atrangi Re and Maaran dropped on Disney+ Hotstar. He is currently busy with bilingual project Vaathi and Naan Varuven. Hollywood movie The Gray Man and Arun Matheswaran's untitled film are other movies of his awaiting releases.
