Director Nandini Reddy, associated with feel-good romance dramas and family entertainers like Ala Modalindi, Oh Baby, Kalyana Vaibhogame is back with another film in her comfort zone. Anni Manchi Sakunamule, headlined by Santosh Soban, Malvika Nair, produced by Swapna Cinema in association with Mitravinda Movies, released in theatres today amidst great expectations.

Anni Manchi Sakunamule opened to mixed responses from viewers and critics. While the cinematography, music, performances and the humour-quotient received praise, many pointed out the story and the treatment lacked freshness. Rajendra Prasad, Rao Ramesh, Naresh, Gauthami, Sowcar Janaki, Vasuki, Vennela Kishore, Ramya Subramanian, Anju Alva Naik, Urvasi, Ashwin Kumar played other important roles in the film.

The story is set in Victoriapuram, where, Sudhakar and Prasad, belonging to two rival families are entangled in a bitter legal battle across decades. While Sudhakar fathers a baby boy, Prasad’s wife births a girl. Owing to an unexpected confusion at a hospital, the babies are interchanged by the nurses. Many years later, the grownup kids - Rishi and Aarya - are inseparable buddies with contrasting ambitions. Will their family feud threaten their future together?

The film is expected to arrive on OTT in about four weeks in the first half of June. Amazon Prime Video has acquired its post-theatrical streaming rights and is expected to announce its premiere date shortly. The ZEE group i.e. Zee Telugu and Zee Cinemalu bagged the satellite rights of the entertainer. Anni Manchi Sakunamule, provided it draws family crowds to theatres, has a good chance of enjoying a long run until the release of Adipurush.

“Anni Manchi Sakunamule is an okayish family drama with a few silverlinings. If you’re compelled to watch it, you’ll come out pleased with its aesthetics, music and the brief comedy portions. This certainly isn’t director Nandini Reddy’s best,” OTTplay’s review read. Vyjayanthi Movies (whose sister concern is Swapna Cinema) has recently produced hits like Sita Ramam, Mahanati, Jathi Ratnalu and Yevade Subrahmanyam.
