Nayanthara’s 75th film, Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food, released on the big screens on December 1, along with major releases such as Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur. The movie, helmed by debutant Nilesh Krishnaa, opened to mixed reviews from critics. However, audiences lauded the Jawan star’s performance in the culinary drama.
The film made approximately ₹65 lakh on its opening day, with 19.98% Tamil occupancy. However, the numbers have significantly come down, as the film managed to earn only ₹31 lakh on Day 5. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the culinary drama has earned Rs. 3.09 crore in India.
About Annapoorani
The film, which also stars actor Jai as the male lead, centres on Annapoorani (Nayanthara), who hails from an orthodox, upper-caste family and aspires to become a chef. But when she realises that this also involves cooking meat, which is forbidden in her family, she keeps her passion a secret. Nevertheless, Annapoorani’s secret gets revealed after an accident. The film’s cast also includes Achyuth Kumar, KS Ravikumar, Sathyaraj and Redin Kingsley.

The movie features an ensemble cast, including Nayanthara playing the titular role as Annapoorani, Jai as Farhaan, and Sathyaraj in the role of Chef Anand Sundarajan. The ensemble also includes Sachu as Subbulakshmi Paati, Renuka as Saradha, Karthik Kumar as Chef Ashwin, Suresh Chakravarthy as Chef Suman, along with Poornima Ravi, Mohamed Irfan as Youtuber, and Thidiyan, collectively bringing richness to the movie's foodilicious drama.

Meanwhile, the Lady Superstar will be seen in producer-turned-director Sashikanth’s film Test, which also stars R Madhavan and Siddharth. The movie’s team recently released her first-look poster. The actress is currently shooting for director Dude Vicky's film Mannangatti Since 1960, which also stars Yogi Babu, Devadarshini, Gouri Kishan and Narendra Prasath.
