The makers of Annabelle Sethupathi had revealed recently that the film will have a premiere in multiple languages on Disney+ Hotstar on September 17. Suriya, Mohanlal and Venkatesh were roped in to release the movie's trailers in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu respectively. Deepak Sundarrajan has directed the movie which has a host of actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Taapsee Pannu, Yogi Babu, Jagapathi Babu, Radhika Sarathkumar, Rajendra Prasad, George Maryan and Vennela Kishore among others.
Deepak is the son of filmmaker-turned-actor R Sundarrajan. Welcoming the former to the filmdom, Suriya released the trailer with the post, "Hearty welcome to Dir R.Sundarrajan sir’s son @SDeepakDir. Warm wishes @vijaysethuoffl @taapsee and team!! #AnnabelleSethupathi streaming from Sep 17 on @DisneyPlusHS."
The trailer of the film, which is a horror-comedy, is set against the backdrop of a huge palace where a few strange incidents take place in 1948. The plot revolves around a few families and ghosts who bump into each other when both of them plan to loot valuable items from the luxurious palace. Though the trailer, which is of more than two-minute duration, begins with Sethupathi and Taapsee, it is Yogi Babu who steals the show towards the end, thanks to his one-liners and hilarious expressions.
Goutham George is the director of photography for the project which has editing by Pradeep E Ragav. Annabelle Sethupathi brings together Vijay Sethupathi and Jagapathi Babu for the second time after Laabam which is hitting screens on September 9. Going by the project's cast, the makers seemed to have chosen artists to cater predominantly to Tamil and Telugu audience, though it is releasing in Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada, too. Mohanlal and Venkatesh expressed happiness to release the film's trailers in Malayalam and Telugu respectively, while Taapsee, while releasing the Tamil version, tweeted, "Kelambidichuppaa kelambidichu! Peyellaam koottamaa kelambidichu. Enge? Inga!)."
