Annabelle Sethupathi directed by debutant Deepak Sundarrajan, son of filmmaker-turned-actor R Sundarrajan, is the third movie of Vijay Sethupathi to release this month. Taapsee Pannu will play the female lead in the project, which is billed as a horror-comedy from the time of its announcement.
The trailer of the film, which will release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, was released by Mohanlal, Suriya and Venkatesh a couple of weeks ago, along with the announcement of its release date. The makers had also released a sneak peek, a few character posters and a couple of music videos from the film recently.
When will Annabelle Sethupathi release?
The movie will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on September 17. Titled Annabelle Subramaniam initially, the film, which was shot in and around Jaipur, has its story centered around a palatial bungalow. A burglar, who barges into a huge palace to steal valuable items, bumps into a slew of ghosts. The series of events that unfolds after she strikes a deal with the ghosts are said to be the highlights of the movie. Goutham George has cranked the camera for the project which has editing by Pradeep E Ragav and music by Krishna Kishor.
Is Vijay Sethupathi appearing only in the film's latter half?
There have been speculation about Vijay Sethupathi playing an extended cameo in the movie. In a press interaction which was held recently, the director confirmed that the actor will not be appearing in the first half, and that the movie is a fantasy comedy, contrary to the belief that it is a horror-comedy. The film features an ensemble cast from Tamil and Telugu industries, namely Radhika Sarathkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Yogi Babu, Vennela Kishore, George Maryan, Surekha Vani, Chetan, Devadarshini, Subbu Panchu and Madhumita among others. Deepak also mentioned in the interaction that they have plans to make Annabelle Sethupathi as a franchise depending on its response.
