On World Organ Donation Day today, actress Meena announced her decision to donate her organs.
It's World Organ Donation Day today (August 13) when awareness is spread about the importance of organ donation. A number of celebrities including Kamal Haasan have decided to donate their organs after death. Meena is the latest to join the bandwagon. The Annaatthe actress announced her decision on her social media page today.
In a heartfelt note, the actress stated that had her husband Vidyasagar had more donors, his life could have been saved. Vidyasagar had passed away two months after battling lung ailment. He succumbed to the infection and breathed his last on June 25.
Her note on social media reads, “There is no greater good than saving lives. Organ donation is one of the noblest ways to save lives. It is a boon, a second chance for many who’s battling with chronic illness which I personally went through. Wish my Sagar was blessed with more donors which could have changed my life ! One donor can save 8 lives. Hope everyone understands the importance of organ donation. It’s not just between the donors and recipients and doctors. It greatly affects families, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. Today, I am taking a pledge to donate my organs. The best way to make your legacy to live on. Love Meena Sagar (sic).”
Meena had earlier shared post dedicated dedicated to her late husband, which read, "You were our beautiful blessing but taken away from us too soon. Forever in our (my) hearts. My family and I would like to thank the millions of good hearts around the world for sending love and prayers. We definitely need them. Very grateful to have friends and family who shower us with love and care and support. We feel the love (sic).” Meena has a daughter Nainika, who made her debut in films as Vijay's daughter in Theri.
