Anna Ben says Meena from Kottukkaali has similarity with THIS Malayalam film of hers

Anna Ben is making her Tamil debut with Kottukkaali, directed by PS Vinothraj and co-starring Soori. Anna shared that her character, Meena, has similarities to her role in one of her Malayalam films.

Actor Anna Ben, who was last seen in the Telugu film Kalki 2898 AD, is making her Tamil debut with the upcoming film Kottukkaali. The film is set to release in theatres on August 23. Ahead of the film's release, the actor opened up about working with the team and what the film means to her.

In an interview with Cinema Vikatan, Anna Ben talked about her upcoming Tamil debut Kottukkaali. The film is directed by PS Vinothraj of Koozhangal fame, and co-stars Soori.

Anna said, “Kottukkaali is a really special project for me. This is my first Tamil film and the character has influenced me a lot. Director Vinothraj had said that he thought of casting me after watching Kappela and said that my character Jessy in that film and Meena in Kottukkaali have similarities. That is actually correct, and Meena is a very exciting character to explore. With just one line, I fell in love with the project and decided to do it.”

Anna further said that she usually takes a day or two to accept or reject a project so that she can think about it. "But I was so happy hearing this story that I want to tell him immediately yes. But I took a day and accepted. It is a very special project for me and the ambition with which they want to take it is also big,” Anna said.

Kottukkaali is backed by Sivakarthikeyan under his home banner, Sivakarthikeyan Productions. The film will be releasing in theatres on August 23. The film is directed by PS Vinothraj and stars Soori as the male lead.

Kottukkaali revolves around two Indian families who are preparing for the wedding of their daughter, Meena, and son, Pandi. However, complications arise as Meena falls in love with someone from a lower caste. The film unfolds after the wedding ceremonies are completed, and Meena's seemingly cold demeanour leads her family to believe she is possessed. The film had an appreciable run in the festival run.
