He pointed out the difference in attitude in the Bengali and South Indian industries.
Ankush Hazra came from outside Kolkata walked his way up to the ladder and became one of the stars in the Bengali entertainment industry. Recently, he became vocal about Bengali content. He pointed out the difference in attitude in the Bengali and South Indian industries.
A few days back, Parambrata Chatterjee regretted that the Bengali audience had a double standard. Dev complained that Bengali people saw Animal but not Jeet’s Manush. Now, Ankush said, “The stars and makers of Bengali films fight with the films in other languages to earn the respect they deserve. But in the South, the audience does that fight on behalf of the makers.”
In the South, the regional films give a tough fight to Bollywood. But the scene is not the same in Bengali. In Bengal, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawaan did a huge business and only three Bengali films could touch that. Two films starred Dev and one starred Jeet. Why such a poor condition of the Bengali films in their state? Isn't the audience responsible? Ankush's post again raised that question.
There have always been debates over the success and audiences’ attitudes towards Bengali films. A number of times, films do not make money despite good content. Now, Ankush Hazra has become vocal. He has started his debut production, Mirza, with Oindrila Sen as the female lead.
