The film also stars Rahman Hassan, Neethu Shetty, Shafi and Chakravarthy Chandrachud in significant roles
Indira is actress Anita Bhat’s maiden home production. Planned as a Kannada-Telugu bilingual, the film, directed by cinematographer-filmmaker Rishikesh, has the actress playing a visually challenged character. A psychological thriller, the film has Anita in the title role, a woman who has also suffered memory loss. The actress had wrapped up work on her debut production in October last year and then released the first single, Step to Destiny in February, followed by the song Naane Ninageega. The film has music by Lohith Nayak and Athishay Jain.
Over the weekend, Anita announced that Indira would skip a theatrical outing and head straight to OTT. The film had been picked up by Voot Select. Earlier today, the platform took to social media to announce that the film would be part of its Friday Premier streaming and be available from July 8, along with a short description of the film. According to the official synopsis, Indira is about a loving wife, who mourns the death of her husband. But is she really mourning or is there a conspiracy behind it?
Shortly after, though, the post went missing, so, it remains unclear if Indira will premiere on July 8. We checked with Anita, but the actress also said that she was not sure of the exact streaming date. We will update this story as soon as we hear more. The streamer, meanwhile, posted something about its last direct-to-OTT release, Dear Vikram, which came out on June 30 instead. Besides its direct releases, Voot has also acquired the streaming rights of films like Sakutumba Sametha, 777 Charlie, Sugarless, Petromax, Bairagee. Sakutumba Sametha should be available to stream shortly, while 777 Charlie has a 48-day from theatrical release clause and has just completed 25 days at the box office. Bairagee released in theatres on July 1, while Sugarless and Petromax will come out in the next two weeks, so their OTT runs will be sometime in August-September.
