Animal faced a lot of flak for the way women characters were depicted in Animal. However, director Sundeep Reddy Vanga remains defiant.
Filmmaker Sundeep Reddy Vanga took a dig at his critics while promoting his latest film Animal in Dallas. Post the screening of the film, Sundeep took a few questions from the audience and he expressed delight when none of them seemed bothered about the mistreatment of women characters in the movie.
"What I really liked about this crowd here is, I didn't really hear any questions about misogyny. So happy that you were the right crowd, you just saw it just as a film," Sundeep said amid a lot of cheers from the crowd.
Sundeep received a lot of flak for the way women characters were depicted in Animal. However, the director remains defiant in the face of mounting pressure on him for his alleged promotion of misogyny and toxic masculinity in his movies.

Sundeep's earlier film Kabir Singh, which was the remake of his directorial debut Arjun Reddy, also faced similar criticism.
"I really understood how much you really like the film, though it's a dark film. Thank you so much," he added.
In the light of the global success of Animal, Sundeep visited theatres in Dallas, Virginia, Houston and California to experience the audiences' reaction to his film firsthand.
It's noteworthy that Animal apparently became the first Indian film with 'A' certificate to breach the $10 million mark at the box office in North America in just 8 days.
Even though Animal is an original Hindi film, it has clicked with Telugu audiences. The film also became a big hit at the box office in the Telugu states.
The producers have claimed that Animal has grossed over Rs 600 from its worldwide ticket sales within 8 days of its theatrical debut. And it's likely to end up as Bollywood Superstar Ranbir Kapoor's biggest hit in his career.
