The actor, last seen in Lust Stories 2, is gearing up for multiple projects and opens on why, more than casting directors, film directors can offer him a better opportunity.
Actor Angad Bedi is known for delivering some of the finest performances in films like Pink, Tiger Zinda Hai, Soorma, and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, as well as the recently released anthology Lust Stories 2.
Starting his career by playing intense roles, now that the actor is exploring different genres like drama and romance, we asked if he faced any rejection or struggled to break the image and get the right casting by the casting directors.
Angad told OTTplay, "I usually get film offers directly from the filmmaker in all my work, whether it is Pink, Soorma, Inside Edge, Tiger Zinda Hai, Gunjan Saxena, or every other film. I get calls directly from the filmmaker rather than the casting director because many times I am told that I do not fit the bill in terms of talent and good looks. I think it is another concept that people should think about that the combination of good looks and good acting in one person can exist. This whole idea that if you are good-looking, you might not be able to pull off an intense role is wrong. On that ground, I faced rejection initially, but then filmmakers directly reached out to me, and the push from the casting director was not needed."
"I feel that it is important to be in the mind of the filmmaker, who knows the story and the character better. I recently finished a film in the South, and the announcement of the project is yet to come, but it made me feel special to know that the director waited for me for six months because he felt that I was the perfect fit for the character. Since he is from the South, he did not have my direct contact and could not reach out to the right person. I was busy shooting. After six months, we got in touch, and he offered me the role! Since I come from a sports family, I do not have those insecurities. I feel that if I am skilled and efficient as an actor, I will get work. You cannot discount the skill of a performer only with the network," explained the actor.
Earlier, OTTplay reported that a source close to the development revealed how Angad is preparing for his debut in Telugu cinema with Nani for the film tentatively titled Nani 30. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur, and it would be interesting to see them once again on screen after Lust Stories 2.
That aside, Angad also finished shooting for R Balki's Ghoomar and Tiger 3.
Lust Stories 2, also starring Neena Gupta, Kajol, Tilottoma Shome, and Amruta Subhash, is streaming on Netflix.
