Anees Bazmee on Shahid Kapoor fallout rumours: 'No dushmani or naraazgi'

Anees Bazmee hints at reviving his comedy film with Shahid Kapoor, stating, "We’ll definitely make a great film."

Anees Bazmee allegedly started working with Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna on a comedy film last year. They expected Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 to begin filming in August 2023 and wrap up before then. However, reports suggest that Kapoor's departure due to creative differences with the director led to the film's shelving. Due to his reluctance to part with "the great script," Bazmee said he would not be working on the project with Kapoor but would instead bring it back with a different actor.

Anees Bazmee hints at rekindling collaboration with Shahid Kapoor

The filmmaker has now dropped a bombshell about the unnamed project in an interview with News18, suggesting that he may have reconnected with the actor and that the two will likely work together again on it. He can't get that movie out of his head. Bazmee has no doubt that collaborating with Kapoor will be an enjoyable experience and added that he has neither enmity nor resentment towards anyone.

At this point, Bazmee also stated that when making a film, two people should come to an agreement in response to the initial news of the aftermath. In a perfect world, everyone would be honest about their expectations. This is the only way to resolve any misunderstandings. After all these years in the workforce, he has settled into a routine that works for him, and he doesn't see any need to alter.

Unwavering mutual respect between Anees Bazmee and Shahid Kapoor

Bazmee underscored the importance of him and his actors sharing a common creative vision, adding that Kapoor, too, has his own unique approach to working and thinking. Contradictory ideas can arise from time to time, and that's totally fine. It's acceptable to avoid collaboration in such a scenario. The filmmaker would be open to working with him again if their sensibilities are compatible.

Although they disagree, Bazmee said it hasn't affected their relationship. The actor always treats him with the utmost respect and affection whenever they meet. The actor's love for him is equally intense. But one thing that Bazmee can say is that when they come together again, they will definitely make a fantastic film.

Rumours about the film's plot and cast

Rumours circulated about the plot and title of the comedy film, leading many to believe that, similar to Bazmee's previous features, it will feature an ensemble cast and feature Kapoor in a dual role. Many wondered if Bazmee had intended to direct Kapoor in this horror comedy or if he had actually cast Ayushmann Khurrana instead, following rumours that he would be directing the actors.
